Making the law open by design

Nyaykosh (न्यायकोष) — meaning a "treasury of justice" — exists so that anyone, whether a citizen, a compliance team, or a developer, can find a law, understand it, download it, build on it, and test what it means for them.

Our mission

The law shouldn't be locked in a PDF

Statutes shape how organisations operate, yet they're usually published as scanned documents that are hard to read, harder to search, and impossible to build on. Nyaykosh turns each Act into something you can actually use: a clean read, an official record, structured data, and a live compliance tool.

We believe transparent, machine-readable law is the foundation of trust between citizens, businesses and the state.

Four formats, one source of truth

Every law, the way you need it

Readable text

Provisions are presented as a navigable outline with plain-language summaries and the specific rules each section imposes — so you grasp obligations without wading through legalese.

Official PDF

The gazette-faithful document for citation, audits and the record. Always the authoritative version, versioned by amendment date.

Structured XML

Akoma Ntoso / LegalDocML markup with sections, sub-clauses and metadata, so legal-tech systems can parse and cross-reference law reliably.

Consumable API

Stable, versioned JSON endpoints expose provisions, rules and penalty schedules. Read access is open; build dashboards, chatbots and compliance tools on top.

Who it's for

Built for everyone the law touches

Citizens & students

Understand your rights and obligations in plain language, with the official text one click away.

Compliance & legal teams

Map obligations to provisions, track penalty exposure, and evidence due diligence with the simulator.

Developers & legal-tech

Pull structured law into your products via XML and REST APIs instead of scraping PDFs.

Methodology

Accurate, sourced, versioned

Each law is sourced from official gazettes and ministry publications, structured into machine-readable provisions, and version-stamped to its latest amendment. Penalty schedules are mapped to their enabling sections so the simulator reflects the real statute.

Note: this platform is for informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. Always verify against the official gazette and consult a qualified professional for specific matters.
